The growing popularity of craft spirits in New Zealand has sparked a revolution in mixers, with the market in need of products with sophisticated flavour profiles to pair with their favourite tipple.

Alchemy & Tonic was created to satisfy this market - those seeking a local, premium brand at an affordable price; one with a bit of magic in it. Low in calories, the range is crafted from 100% natural ingredients to compliment any spirit, or simply be enjoyed on its own. Our brief was to create a distinctive brand to standout on shelf, one that could compete with more established, international brands while appealing to the local New Zealand and Australian markets.

With visually rich themes of alchemy and magic to ignite our imaginations, we conjured up a brand identity rooted in the golden age of magicians - the Victorian era. We created a motley crew of characters, from fire-breathers to tarot readers, pairing these detailed illustrations with type inspired by 19th century lettering and signage. A solid pastel colour palette brought the brand back to modern times, and made for effective colour blocking and brand presence on shelf.

Available in multiple formats including cans and custom designed glass bottles, the range has been developed to cater both on and off-premise sales channels, making Alchemy & Tonic the perfect pairing whether entertaining at home or at your local. After all, when it comes to cocktails, the magic is in the mixer.
